UFC on FOX 31 play-by-play and live results

MILWAUKEE – MMAjunkie is on scene and reporting live from today’s UFC on FOX 31 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT).

The event takes place at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Kevin Lee (17-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) meets Al Iaquinta (13-4-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in a lightweight rematch. In the co-feature, Edson Barboza (19-6 MMA, 13-6 UFC) takes on Dan Hooker (17-7 MMA, 7-3 UFC) at lightweigh

Current Fight

Kevin Lee vs. Al Iaquinta

Round 1 – Lee pops a jab and nearly gets a kick caught as Iaquinta advances. He uses kicks to keep Iaquinta back. Iaquinta grabs a leg and gives it up, then goes back to punches. Lee pops him with a fre well placed shots. Iaquinta grabs a leg and then spins with an elbow that lands flush. Lee pushes in and takes a kick to the body. He puts a straight right on Iaquinta, who resets. Jabs from Lee, and then a rigtht hand pushes Iaquinta back. Nice body kick from Lee, who’s beginning to find his rhythm. Iaquinta charging forward with his attacks, landing hooks to the body. Lee content to fire that jab and mix it up with high and low kicks. Straight left from Lee, and they trade jabs. Iaquinta again fakes the takedown and transitions to a punch. His head kick is very telegraphed, and Lee repays with a kick to the body. Less than two minutes, and Iaquinta presses forward with a combo. He grabs a leg again, but he hasn’t really committed to any takedown. They trade power punches on the next exchange. Lee still headhunting with his kick. Nice jab from Iaquinta, who ducks a counter. Iaquinta almost has Lee cornered and tries an uppercut. Suddenly, Iaquinta drops for a takedown and peels off with a punch. Round ends with Lee in pursuit. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Iaquinta.

Edson Barboza vs. Dan Hooker

Round 1 – Hooker kikds early, darwing Barboza’s leg kick. Another kick draws a body shot, but Hooker continues to use his legs. Barboza goes to work with his low kick, matching Hooker’s attacks ti for tat. Barboza tries to catch his foe coming in, but he’s a little off. Hooker presses forward and lets his hands go, throwing a few shots that are blocked. He goes back to his kicks, and Barboza slams his leg with an outside shot. Now, Hooker mixes in a punch off the kick. He fakes a takedown and gets nailed by a punch from Barboza. Another combo inside from the Brazilian, and he resets. Barboza now nailing that leg. Hooker trying to find a way inside, out of range of those horror shots. But Barboza’s punches inside are giving him pause. A nice punch off an inside leg kick allows Hooker to score. But Barboza goes back to the leg. Hooker tries to fakes into a head kick. Barboza sees it coming. He doesn’t see a jab, however, that pops him straight. And a combo in reply is short from Barboza. Nice jab from Hooker, who takes a leg kick in reply. Hooker doesn’t seem bothered by what he’s encountered thus far, but then a right hand visibly hurts him. Barboza countering well inside, and circling off when Hooker tries to capture him in close. Barboza lights him up in the clinch and nearly lands his famous wheel kick. Hooker still moving forward, taking heavy leg kicks as he tries to put his hands on Barboza. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Barboza.

Round 2 – Hooker opens with heavy pressure, but Barboza cracks his leg. He’s limping now, and another kick sweeps him off his feet. Hooker still presses forward, hoping to turn it into a brawl. Barboza wraps him up in the clinch and lands knees. Hoooker still pushes forward, and he’s trading punch for punch. Barboza is landing as well as taking big shots. Hooker hopes to wear down the Brazilian, but he’s getting cracked in the clinch. Hooker slips on a knee and winds up taking Barboza with him when he reverses. Barboza tries an oma plata, but Hooker passes around his leg and winds up in half-guard. Nightmare scenario for Barboza, who’s hanging on for dear life as Hooker pounds at his body. Finally, Barboza kicks off HOoker and digs the body. Hoooker walking him down, and the body shots are racking up. Hooker is taking all sorts of damage, and a big right hand cracks him hard. Still, he won’t go down. Finally, Barboza does with elbow. More body shots. What is keeping Hooker up? He still manages to drive forward, taking shot after shot. Barboza puts his hands on his shoulders after hoooker pitches to the mat after a clash. Phone booth fighting. Hooker tries to grab the clinch. Barboza back to hard jabs. His right hand might be injured. But he still throws it. He’s lighting up Hooker, who’s a stationaary target. Big body kick. Hooker won’t quit. A trio of thudding right hands cracks Hooker, and still he won’t go down. Now, Barboza resorts to circling off. He’s obviously not going to finish, so he might as well conserve energy. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-8 for Barboza, who’s up 20-17.

Round 3 – The inside of Hooker’s lead leg is a purple mess. They hug it out, and Hooker goes back to charging. Barboza lights up his lead leg with kicks and lands jab after jab. Hooker keeps chasing, taking blows, and Barboza circles off and goes to the body. Hooker dives for the takedown and presses Barboza to the fence. He fires off a knee and takes a breather. Barboza holding him, and finally pushes off without much effort. A spinning back kick buckles Hooker, and he’s almost defenseless. Barboza winds up and lands more kicks, and still Hooker is standing. Another spinning back kick, and Barboza slaps him with a punch. This is an insane amount of damage. Hooker manages to block a head kick, but he’s just getting brutalized in the clinch. Another spinning back kick, and Hooker walks forward into a body shot that crumples him. This fight went on way too long, but mercifully for Hooker, it’s over.

Rob Font vs. Sergio Pettis

Round 1 – Font and Pettis trade jabs in close early, apparently not hesitant to test range. They both sit down on straight rights, and Font goes down to the body. Another trade of kicks, and both score with right hands. Petis slaps the legs and backs off for the counter. He takes a right straight from Font, who presses in and abscorbs more low kicks and jabs. Pretty evenly matched fight so far, with both fighters landing jabs and low kicks. Font slightly more aggressive on the approach, and he puts several straight rights and a body shot on target. Pettis circles off and counters with his jab and hook, but Font’s workrate is higher. Pettis’ face beginning to redden from the repeated jabs he’s taking, and his body shots are landing regularly. Pettis grabs a leg and Font uses it to trip him to the mat off the fence. Font sits in open guard, biding his time. Finally, he tries to pass, and Pettis blocks the move. Font stands over ahnd and misses on a big right. He tries again, struggling with Pettis’ legs. While he manages to connect to the body, he’s unable to get in for any big shots overhead. Finally, Pettis stands and uses Font’s grip to spin with a kick before returning to his feet. A few more exchanges, and time runs out with Pettis seeking a reply to Font. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Font.

Round 2 – Pettis launches a body kick and draws punch counters from Font, who’s fighting tall and pressing forward to keep the pressure high. Pettis pumps the jab, but Font won’t be deterred. He connects with a right to the head and a body shot before driving for a takedown. Pettis fights the trip and manages to escape to center cage, where he goes back to trading jabs. Pettis sneaks in a high kick. More jabs in close, and Font whips the leg with a kick. Pettis’ left eye swelling badly. Font beats the body and looks for a way into the clinch. Pettis sees it and shucks him off. But a right hook and body shot are good for Font. Nice step in right from Pettis. They both sit down on rights and miss, but Font is still in Pettis’ face. Font gets in close and ducks a high kick. He comes back with a straight right and narrowly avoids a head kick from Pettis. This bout is mostly being contested on the jab, and so far, Font appears to be slightly ahead in that department. He’s also mixing in body work with his right hand. Pettis hops forward trying to set up a trip. Font ducks under a punch and goes for a takedown only to wind up on bottom. He grabs a kimura from the bottom and uses it to sweep Pettis. He nearly advances by stepping over the head to finish, but the clock sounds before he can complete the submission. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Font, and he’s up 20-18.

Round 3 – Font and Pettis trade rights early, but it’s Font who keeps his jab pistoning as Pettis advances. They clinch briefly before breaking off to trade more jabs. Pettis goes to the legs and then upstairs with his jab and straight. He blocks Font’s leg kick and circles off. Font charges with an uppercut that misses and circles off. Tit for that, they trade low kicks. More jabs traded, and Pettis spins with a kick. He startsa to put his right hand on Font, but he looses his mouthpiece in a subsequent exchange, and his charge is met with a takedown. Font is now on top, but Madrigal stops the action to replace the mouthpiece. Midway through the frame, and Font stands overhead and stacks Pettis before firing down a shot. Pettis kicks up his legs and rolls to his knees. Font at his back and drags him backward, trying to get in hooks for a choke. Pettis won’t let that happen, but he’s stuck against the fence despite posting his arms. Again, Font pulls him backward and rides the back. As Pettis turns to take a leg, Font uses a cradle to stay in dominant position and shuts down the move. Finally, Pettis kicks out his legs and winds up on his back. Font stands overhead and fires down punches with short time left. Pettis is bicyling his legs, and he winds up fending off a guillotine as he pops up. He misses on a high kick and runs out of time as the two square off. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Font, who gets the 30-27 call.

Jim Miller vs. Charles Oliveira

Round 1 – Oliveira and Miller touch gloves in this rematch eight years in the making. Miller draws a leg kick pressing in and his leg kick prompts Oliveira to grab a body lock and slam him to the mat. Instantly, Oliveira is in back control, and Miller is in big trouble. Miller scrambles to his knees and forces Oliveira to reset the choke. But Oliveira rolls to his back and has the arm under the neck. Miller peels an arm, and Oliveira simply puts it back in position. There’s nowhere to escape, and after a brief squeeze, Miller taps. Oliveira avenges his loss to Miller.

Zak Ottow vs. Dwight Grant

Round 1 – Switch stances early from Ottow, who presses in and kicks high and low. Jabs from both, and a low kick opens an attack from Grant. Ottow sneaks in a left straight and resets. Ottow trying to corner Grant, fakes a leg grab and then continues to paw. Grant fires back with a heavy combo on a punch, bowling over Ottow to the mat. But rather than keep top position, Grant steps back and Ottow stands up. He goes high with a kick, and Grant goes back to biding his time. Both fighters paw with jabs, and Ottow again tries to corner Grant. A high kick whiffs. He continues to press, faking another shot and kicking high, but not committing to much. Finally, Grant starts to press forward and sets up a hook. He stumbles on the canvas and resets. Ottow ducks a right hook and presses in again. More shots at range, and Grant doesn’t respond. But when Ottow gets close, he grabs the back of the head and fires uppercuts. Ottow backs off and goes back to his kicks. Time short, and Grant nails a straight right to end the frame. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Ottow.

Round 2 – Ottow inches forward and ducks a left hook. He goes back to his kicks, front and high as Grant moves away. Ottow nails the body with a kick. Grant inches forward and fires a left hook that prompts Ottow to duck under. Sprawl blocks any takedown, and they reset. Grant has yet to really let his hands go. Hence, Ottow may be taking this round and last based on the fact that he’s the one pressing the fight. Grant tries a pair of hooks after taking a right, and Ottow resets. Ottow goes back to his head kick and lands a glancing shot. He presses forward again and whiffs on a right. Ottow tries to sneak in a right and narrowly avoids a counter. Ottow goes back to the legs. Grant whiffs on a left hook. Ottow back to his jab. Grant sits down on a right and sends Ottow careening away. But he pops up, and it appears he’s OK. They clinch up after a clash, and Ottow presses Grant to the fence. On the break, Grant lands a right hand. Short time. Grant sneaks in another right hand, and an Ottow jab ends the frame. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Grant, and it’s 19-19 all.

Round 3 – Ottow goes back to pumping the jab, and Green pushes him back. He nails the body and then lands a knee, but Ottow presses back and ducks under for a takedown. More than four minutes to work from guard. Ottow with a few punches from up top, and he tries to pass. Ottow uses his left to punch as he passes, and Grant blocks the pass. He manages to stand, but Ottow has the body lock as he gets up. Grant grabs the fence and draws a soft warning, and Ottow smothers him against the cage. They trade knees in close, and Grant tries without success to escape. Ottow is going to hold him here. Finally, Grant circles the right way and gets free. He lands a nice right as Ottow comes in, and counters well on the next try. Ottow charges in the open for the takedown, and Grant manages to stay upright as they careen across the cage. Ottow pressing hard for the takedown against the fence, and Grant fights it off. Grant tags Ottow in close as he ducks in the middle of an exchange. Ottow now getting desparate and shoots in. Grant blocks it and fires off a few pats to the body to close out the fight. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Grant, who gets the 29-28 call.

Bobby Green vs. Drakkar Klose

Round 1 – Klose ducks in with a right hand and kicks as Green counters with a jab. They both fire their right hands, and Green attacks the legs. Klose does the same and then ducks for a takedown. Green sees it coming, and they return to striking. Green continues to attack the legs with oblique kicks. Klose does the same, and Green steps in for his own takedown attempt. Klose gets free, and they’re back to where they were. Klose misses on a left hand and drives Green to the fence, and Green complains that Klose is grabbing his gloves. Green turns Klose on the cage, and Klose nails him with an elbow as he’s complaining about the gloves again. Peterson steps in and stops the action, giving Klose a warning. They’re back in center cage, and Klose nails the body. Green is back to the legs, and he saunters as Klose tries a two punch combo. Klose keeps his kicks active, drawing scowlws from Green. Green tries a flying knee and almost converts it to a choke when Klose grabs his leg. Green sneaks in a right hand after going back to his oblique kick. Green now in his element, shrugging at Klose’s kicks and continuing his own. Green now goes to the body and takes a hard leg kick that brings acknowledgement. They briefly clinch up, but Green wants to stand and strike. Klose drives for a takedown off a kick and fires off a knee before Green escapes. Green backs up Klose and potshots with right hands. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Green.

Round 2 – Klose now attacking with an oblique kick. Green comes back with the same and feints to back up his foe. Klose ducks under for a takedown and fires a knee that goes low. Green reacts, and we pause briefly. Klose out swinging with a three punch combo, but Green sees it coming. He’s better on the combo, and Green now ducks under to get an easy takedown. On top against the cage, he punches and shoulder strikes before briefly taking mount. Klose tries to get up and is pushed back. In half-guard, Green using his shoulder to make Klose’s life miserable. Klose almost scoots to his side, but Green uses it to take mount. Klose briefly gives up his back and can’t buck Green turning to his back. Finally, he cage walks to freedom, forcing Green to get up. He comes out swinging against Green and lands a knee in close. Green moving back, and Klose head-hunting. There’s a cut over Green’s left eye. Nice elbow in close from Green, and Klose replies with the same. Frantic pace, and Klose steps under and elevates for a slam. Instead, Green turns in midair and puts Klose on his back. In half-guard, Green punching from the top. Cage walk fails, and Green postures for more punches. This time, Klose won’t escape. Green ends the frame pounding from the top. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Green, and he’s up 20-18.

Round 3 – Klose needs to make something happen, and he firees to the legs early. Green ducks under a combo and returns fire with a right hand. A clash of kicks sendds Green tripping to the mat, and he pops up and trades heavy shots with Green. Counters in close, and Klose is taking as many shots as he’s giving. Green ties him up against the cage and tries to elevate for a takedown. Klose holds on and resets, and they go back to testing each other’s standup. They trade heavy right hands, and Klose begins to outscore inside. Green attacks the body and tries to catch Klose before he loads up, holding the clinch when the fight gets too close. A duck and move keeps Green from another charge, and they both reset. Leg kick hurts Green, and he counters as Klose wings heavy shots. Both land big shots, but neither will capitulate. Green potshotting with his right hand. Klose lunges with a knee, and that gives Green the opening for a takedown attempt. He takes a few elbows, and Klose tries a choke that forces him to give up. Klose walking down Green, and there’s less than one minute to go. It’s been a crazy paced fight. Klose comes back one last time and lands several rights. He wants the finish, and he winds up in the clinch taking knees to the body. But he lands right hands that score. Green keeps firing as he moves backward, landing shots as he moves backward. Time runs out, and both fighters raise their hands in a frenetic and competitive fight. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Klose, but Green gets the 29-28 nod.

Jared Gordon vs. Joaquim Silva

Round 1 – Gordon pops a front kick to the face early, and they clash with kicks. Gordon comes forward swinging, and Silva kicks back to stop him. Big swings from Silva as he pushes forward, and Gordon gets out of the way. A forward and backward fight so far, with Gordon heavy on kicks and ducking heavy hooks. Higher work rate from Gordon, who lands a straight right and manages to seize an arm-triangle on the way down. He gives it up, but punches his way to top position against the fence. He tries to take the back and punches away, also landing with a few knees before Silva escapes. He comes out swinging and tags Gordon, but Gordon lands a right hand that wobbles him. In the clinch, they dirty box with Silva on ice stakes trying to get his opponent back. Instead, he pitches back to the mat, and Gordon gets on top. Ground and pound from the American, and Silva tries to sweep. Instead, Gordon steps over and takes half-guard. Big shots from top position. Closed guard, and Silva takes another right hand. Silva explodes to his hands and knees against the fence, and Gordon rides him before peeling off with a knee and punch. Silva’s left eye is badly swollen. But he lands a left hand and a flying knee that badly hurts Gorden. Gordon shoots for the takedown and takes elbows to the side of the head. Silva tries to close it out with a front choke, but time runs out. Crazy shift, but MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Gordon.

Round 2 – They both sit down on heavy hooks. Silva is on the attack, and Gordon shoots under for a takedown. Silva sprawls out, and Gordon pushes him back. A nice shift almost gets Gordon the takedown, but Silva scrambles and gets back to his feet. Gordon again shoots, and Silva uses a switch. Gordon wheels around the other side and is at Silva’s back. He’s trying to take back control, but Silva won’t flatten out. Finally, The Brazilian gives up the position and closes guard. Gordon works punches to the body and head and passes to half-guard. Silva rolls to his hands and knees, and Gordon knees the body. Silva up at the cage, and Gordon stays on him. Dirty boxing in close, and Gordon peels off with a knee. High pace, and they both look a little winded. Big, wild punches from both. They chop each others legs, and Gordon puts together a nice combo. Silva comes back with a knee and right hand. Gordon ducks again, and Silva sprawls, kneeing the body. Again, they go punch for punch, and it looks like Gordon is tiring. Silva moving forward, attacking the body. Gordon tags him with an overhand right. They tag each other with jabs, and Silva ducks under and gets the takedown. Passing to side guard, Gordon rolls to his knees, and Silva holds the ankle to take the back. Gordon pauses as Silva punches away, and Silva takes the kneebar. Gordon winces, but hangs on as time ends. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Silva, and it’s even at 19-19.

Round 3 – Gordon pops Silva with a right off a kick. Toe to toe early on, trading heavy shots. Gordon is getting the better of it, but Silva is still firing. He cracks Gordon on the inside with a four-punch combo, and Gordon resets. But for the meantime, it’s a war of attrition with both men bludgeoning each other with punches and low kicks. Silva beats the body, and he comes on strong past Gordon’s punches. Gordon shoots for tha takedown, and Silva won’t have it. He continues to beat the body, going to kness. Gordon won’t give up and keeps going upstairs. Total slobberknocker. Silva begins to rally, and Gordon takes tons of shots upstairs. Silva presses in and lands a flurry of unanswered shots that crack Gordon square. One shot knocks him out on his feet, and Hinds steps in to stop it. Amazing heart and finish by Silva.

Gerald Meerschaert vs. Jack Hermansson

Round 1 – Hermansson fires off a kick, and Meerschaert uses it to drive him to the fence. Hermansson gets around to his side, and uses a body lock to get takedown. Quickly, he advances to mount, and Meerschaert is forced to scramble to reclaim guard. Hermansson still working to pass and gets to half-guard, using punches to ease the way. As Meerschaert pitches forward, Hermansson grabs his neck, and Meerschaert pops out after putting himself on the mat. Meerschaert gets taken down again, and this time, Hermansson is able to get to back mount. He pounds away and flattens out Meerschaert. Punches from overhead, and Meerschaert can’t seem to free himself. Turned on his side, Meerschaert takes a huge elbow from Hermansson. He’s no longer mounted, but Hermansson is at his back, pouring on punches and knees. Meerschaert rolls to his back and again gives up mount. Meerschaert rolls to his back and tries to get out the back door. Hermansson finally winds up on his back in the guard. He gets back to his feet, and Meerschaert goes all in on a guillotine. When that misses, he again winds up mounted and then back mounted, taking more damage from the back. Hermansson rag dolls Meerschaert back to the mat and tries to mount again. Meerschaert sees it coming and blocks the advance, but Hermansson seizes a guillotine in transition and steps back. This time, there’s no escape. A tap brings Hermansson the win.

Trevor Smith vs. Zak Cummings

Round 1 – Smith puts a right hand on Cummings in the first 10 seconds. Cummings pawing with his lead hand, thinking about different strikes and feinting. Smith just waiting for the right moment. Cummings sneaks in a left after a leg kick. Smith grabs the clinch and tries a knee in the next exchange. Head kick from Cummings partially blocked. They trade power punches, but no follow up. Cummings catches a body kick and tries to trip, but he misses. Smith loops in a left hook, then makes Cummings walk into another left hook. He’s doing fairely well on the outside, but Cummings is chewing up the leg. Feints from Cummings, who’s trying to land his power left hand. He pushes an uppercut while Smith returns with his left hook. Tactical pace so far. Trade of jabs, and Smith hooks the body. Cummings nails the leg and gets caught with a counter. Smith is pushing back, but gets caught with a punch that cuts his face. Cummings drops for a takedown and pushes through a knee to put Smith on the cage. He struggles to keep Cummings in place, and eventually, he’s forced to slug it out at distance before running out of time. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Smith.

Round 2 – Cummings works a jab early as the two paw lead hands. Cummings’s left eye is almost swollen shut. He’s busy early, though, and Smith tries to push him back with power hooks. Cummings winds up and fires a left hook. Smith absorbs it and comes back with a right hand. When Cummings kicks the leg, he triees to make his opponent pay. Smith barrels forward and nails the body, drawing a pair of counters from Cummings. Back in the center cage, Smith again tries to convert a kick to a takedown. Cummings blocks it and crakcs him with a heavy left hand. He lands it again, and Smith comes back with a pair of heavy hooks. Cummings still keeping a high work rate, while Smith sitting down on big punches. Cummings working well on the inside this round, cutting angles that allow him to score while Smith is out of position. More straight lefts for Cummings. Smith comes back with a knee up the middle off a collar tie. It’s a toe-to-toe test as both try to break each other with power shots. Smith misses on a straight right and sprawls out on a takedown attempt. Cummings peels off with a left hand and throws a superman. Smith counters with a hard left to end the frame. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Cummings, and it’s tied at 19 all.

Round 3 – It’s been a grinder of a three round fight, and they’re slinging leather early. Cummings still has the angle on the left, and he sweeps Smith on a kick. Cummings catches a left hook that drops Smith, and he wings around to the back. Smith, though, has a leg and uses the leverage to put Cummings on his back. Now, Smith is in the driver’s seat on top. Ground and pound from half guard. Cummings trying to escape, and Smith wraps his head to threaten choke. When Cummings adjusts, Smith goes back to punches and elbows. Cummings shrimps across the canvas and manages to stand at the cage. Smith at his back working knees, and Cummings turns to face his opponent. He turns Smith and goes for the takedown. He peels off and lights up Smith with heavy hooks. A heavy kick opens a takedown, and Smith wraps the head as he hits the deck. Position not there, and Cummings on top against the cage. Smith doesn’t need much to roll to his knees, and Cummings loses the position as he tries to take the back. Now, he’s in a terrible position taking left hands as he tries to stand up against the cage. Smith can’t keep ahold of him as he rights himself, and he goes for one last takedown. Smith misses the switch, but has the leg and then scrambles. Big knees to the body as Smith tries to contain the exchange. Cummings fires off a few shots in close, and they break and trade a few more big shots before time runs out. Close round, but MMAjunkie scores it 10-9 for Smith for the 29-28 call.

Dan Ige vs. Jordan Griffin

Round 1 – Ige pumps a jab, and they clash heads on a first exchange on his right hand. Tentative start for both. Griffin surges forward with combinations, drawing counters from Ige. On the second, they again clash heads. Griffin pops a head kick and slips in a left hand. Ige flurries in, and Griffin tries for a takedown. Whizzer puts Ige on top, and he gets to Griffin’s back against the cage. Griffin sitting against the cage, trying to fend off choke setup. Ige pounding with his left hand, mounted on Griffin. Cage preventing an escape, and Ige is just lighting up his opponent from mount. Griffin gives up his back and tries to go out the back door. He’s out, and he grabs Ige’s neck in a scramble. Ige spins around and pushes Griffin to the mat. Griffin forced to give up the choke and nearly winds up in an arm-triangle. That doesn’t work, but Ige again takes mount. Griffin slapping his opponent from the bottom. Ige traps the right arm and punches with his free left. Griffin again gets to his knees and fights off a choke. Ige still on the back and rides to the cage. He tries a face crank and then rides Griffin as they stand. Griffin comes out swinging as Ige backs up, and they swing for the fences. Ige takes a shot or two as time runs out, but round one is solidly in his corner, 10-9.

Round 2 – Ige gets to the back in a scramble, but Griffin won’t concede the position and winds up sprawled out as Ige tries for a leg. Griffin grabs the neck and threatens a choke, forcing Ige to scramble to his back. He throws up a triangle, and Griffin stands and pounds at his opponent. Ige bicycling his legs, but Griffin is still pounding away. Finally, he takes a break, and Ige tries to land an upkick to the chin. Griffin continues to pound, and then finally settles down into guard. He stands up after a beat and resumes his ground and pound attack from up top. Ige avoiding the worst of it, but he’s certainly not in dominant position, and when he tries to get up, Griffin pops him again. Ige tries to throw up a triangle and then attacks an ankle. Griffin stays at his back as he scrambles, and again, he’s on top, pounding away. He passes the legs and pounds to close the frame. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Griffin, and it’s even at 19-19.

Round 3 – Ige wings a hook and attacks the leg. Griffin leaps in with a knee, looking the fresher fighter. He ducks under for a takedown, and Ige sprawls out. They clinch and Griffin drives to the fence. Ige turns him and isolates a leg. Dirty boxing as Ige punches and Griffin works knees. They break, and Griffin is stalking Ige for a minute. Another high kick blocked by Ige. Both men winging wide punches, and Ige connects. He charges into another takedown attempt, elevates, and puts Griffin on the mat. Griffin again trying to fend off the choke as he rights himself, and Ige hanging on his foe before grabbing an ankle to get the fight down. Griffin fights back to his feet and pushes off Griffin, and they trade big bombs. Both land, and Ige shoots from the open for a takedown. Griffin sprawls out and winds up almost at Ige’s back as they hit the canvas. Gravity is not his friend, however, and Ige waits it out to move into top position. Griffin up, and Ige puts him back down. He goes for the choke as Griffin again tries to get up, and he doesn’t get it. Griffin again gets out the back door and ends the frame pounding away with punches. None of them hurt Ige, however, and time runs out before he can do more. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Ige, giving him the 29-28 score.

Adam Milstead vs. Mike Rodriguez

Round 1 – Milestead advancing slowly, and they get into an early slugfest after Rodriguez lands a low kick. Both fighters take heavy shots, but it’s Milstead that gets dropped on a punch in a subsequent exchange. Rodriguez follows him to the mat and goes to work with ground and pound. Near sweep from Milstead, who works elbows in close as Rodriguez turns them to get better position on the cage. Milstead opens his guard and looks for sweep and submission opportunities. Eventually, he scoots back to the cage and gets back to his feet, where he contends again with Rodriguez’s kicks. Milstead gets swept on a kick and eats more punches when Rodriguez counters with a combination. He pushes Milstead to the cage and lands an elbow in close before peeling off. Front kick pushes Milstead back again, and Rodriguez lunges with a knee that drops him to the canvas. Follow up punches follow, and it takes Hinds a few seconds to realize Milstead is done.

Chris De La Rocha vs. Juan Adams

Round 1 – De La Rocha bouncing around early, pops a jab as Adams advances. Then goes to the body to follow up. Adams pressing in, working his own left hand. He chases forward and puts his straight right to use. De La Rocha firing back, though a punch has cut him under his left eye. Adams presses the jab again, then goes low with kicks. Adams with another combo of straight punches, and De La Rocha goes to the body before following to the head. Adams drives in and gets an easy takedown, pounding as De La Rocha drives forward into a takedown. De La Rocha grabs an ankle to stop the advance and takes half-guard. Ground and pound from the UFC newcomer, and De La Rocha’s face is leaking more. Midway through the round. Big elbows from Adams, who passes to side control and grinds with more elbows. De La Rocha pithces to his hands and knees and gets to his feet before Adams pushes him back to the canvas. Standing overhead, De La Rocha pulls a double foot sweep and then drops back for an ankle. Adams rolls with it and stands overhead. Adams fires down with punches and hammerfists. De La Rocha almost inverted hanging on Adams’ leg, but he can’t hang on. In the scrambles, though, De La Rocha presses to his feet and fires off a few punches to close the round. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 Adams.

Round 2 – De La Rocha pumps the jab and lands a straight right. Adam chases him down again with piston-like punches, and De La Rocha ends up in dominant position in a wrestling scramble. He presses Adams to the cage after fending off a takedown, and Adams wraps the head to threaten with a choke as De La Rocha drives for a takedown. De La Rocha peels off and punches away. Adams cracks him back with his counters and lands a brutal knee. Adams presses back into the clinch against the fence. Both men tiring. Adams beats the body. Fipp doesn’t see enough action and breaks them. Adams forward with his jab, and De La Rocha goes to the body in response. Who wants it more. De La Rocha puts his hands on his hips, and Adams steps back. Big left hook lands for De La Rocha, who presses forward and puts another right on his foe. Hands on knees, he blocks an Adams punch. Staring contest as both men try to find some gas in the tank. De La Rocha comes charging, and they trade wild, sloppy shots before backing off. Adams on the offense and snaps De La Rocha to the mat with a head lock. At De La Rocha’s back, Adams uses a cradle to put his opponent on his back. Here comes the ground and pound. De La Rocha’s face is a mess. In half-guard, Adams pounds away with short time. Ref is is close. But De La Rocha survives. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Adams, and he’s up 20-18.

Round 3 – They touch gloves and stare. Running on fumes. Adams shuffles forward and gets popped with a jab off a kick. Adams goes back to the jab, and De La Rocha responds in kind. Another charge forward, and a knee sends De La Rocha reeling back to the cage. Adams follows with a flurry of punches, and it’s clear De La Rocha is done. Referee steps in, and it’s over.
