SINGAPORE – Now a winner of two straight, Josh Culibao wants to run back a fight that resulted in a split draw.
On the prelims of UFC 275, Culibao (10-1-1 MMA, 2-1-1 UFC) earned the favor of two judges, picking up a split decision win over Seung Woo Choi. It’s the second-straight decision win for the Australian, who entered the fight against Choi (10-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC) on the heels of a unanimous decision victory over Shayilan Neurdanbieke.
Looking ahead after this win at Singapore Indoor Stadium, Culibao actually wants to look back, and step inside the cage once again with the man he fought to a split draw in 2020.
“I’ve been eyeing this one rematch, I know he’s fighting soon, Charles Jourdain,” Culibao told reporters at the post-fight news conference. “They said we had that draw. I knew I won that fight. I’d like to run that one back and show for sure that I won that fight. … If not Charles Jourdain, he’s got a big fight ahead of him, so whoever. But get me on that France card.”
Jourdain is currently slated to face Shane Burgos on July 16 in Long Island, N.Y. After the draw with Culibao, Jourdain has won three of his last four fights, leading to the matchup with Burgos.
Culibao would happily take a matchup on the upcoming card that will take place in France on Sept. 3, which is headlined by a heavyweight bout between former interim champ Ciryl Gane and contender Tai Tuivasa.
