USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, May 4: Jiri Prochazka bounds upward after big KO
With the UFC, PFL, and ONE Championship all in action this past week, there were moves to be made in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings.
In the UFC on ESPN 23 headliner, former RIZIN champion Jiri Prochazka continued his winning ways with a violent back-elbow knockout of former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes. The knockout finish was Prochazka’s second in as many promotional appearances. With that, he moves up to No. 7 in the MMA Junkie light heavyweight rankings.
Earlier on the same card, surging featherweight Giga Chikadze continued his ascent up the divisional ladder when he needed just 1:03 to finish former UFC title challenger Cub Swanson with a brutal body kick. The finish bumps Chikadze into the MMA Junkie featherweight rankings for the first time.
