USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, Sept. 20: Cory Sandhagen holds position
The calendar for major MMA events was quite thin this past week, creating minimal movement in the Sept. 20 edition of the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings.
The majority of the spotlight was pinpointed, as usual, on the industry leader with UFC Fight Night 210 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Cory Sandhagen held his No. 5 spot in the bantamweight rankings with a fourth-round doctor’s stoppage TKO of Song Yadong – who slide back to No. 15 with his loss – in the main event.
In other action, Loma Lookboonmee picked up a unanimous decision win over Denise Gomes, giving her enough traction join the honorable mention list in the strawweight ranks, bumping Cheyanne Vlismas from the list.
