Vicente Luque vs. Belal Muhammad rematch set for UFC Fight Night main event on April 16

A key welterweight rematch between Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad will headline a UFC event in April.

MMA Junkie verified with a person close to the situation on Wednesday that Luque (21-7-1 MMA, 14-3 UFC) and Muhammad (20-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) have agreed to a five-round matchup at UFC Fight Night on April 16. The person requested anonymity following an initial report from ESPN.

The UFC Fight Night does not have an announced location or venue.

Luque and Muhammad first met at UFC 205 in November 2016. Luque earned a knockout victory in just 79 seconds, but since then both men have climbed to the top tier of the 170-pound pecking order.

Luque, No. 6 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie welterweight rankings, has put together a 10-2 record since the initial fight. The 30-year-old is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, with stoppages of Michael Chiesa, Tyron Woodley, Randy Brown and Niko Price.

No. 7-ranked Muhammad, meanwhile, is 10-1 with one no contest since losing to Luque. The 33-year-old is unbeaten over his past eight, including back-to-back victories over Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia.
