For the better part of a year, Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya appeared to be on a collision course toward a superfight, but that could be no more.
This past Saturday at UFC 259, Adesanya lost for the first time in his MMA career when the middleweight champion’s bid to become champ-champ failed after dropping a unanimous decision to light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz. Adesanya had his moments striking from range in the early going, but by the time the championship rounds approached Blachowicz was able to take down Adesanya and use his size advantage to control Rounds 4 and 5.
The way the fight played out, and with Jones preparing for a move up to heavyweight and now deeming Adesanya “not even worth my time,” has Jones vs. Adesanya lost its appeal?
On this week’s episode of “Spinning Back Clique,” we debated bold statements, asking if they were overreactions or on the money. So … Jones vs. Adesanya definitely won’t happen now. Is that an overreaction or on the money?
