The UFC’s bantamweight division is one of the deepest in the company, but it’s also providing us with some controversy as of late.
Aljamain Sterling, the current 135-pound champion, was announced to compete at UFC 267 in a rematch with Petr Yan – who lost the first fight by disqualification – before we found out he wasn’t even medically cleared following neck surgery. So now the UFC is doing an interim title fight with Yan and Cory Sandhagen, who are amazing fighters, but both are coming off losses.
Simple question: Was there a better way to handle things here, or is the UFC doing the best it can given the circumstances? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn and Matthew Wells discuss these topics along with panelist/host John Morgan.
