Amanda Nunes already had been ordained the best women’s fighter in history when she lost one of her UFC titles this past December.
The first two-division women’s champion in UFC history lost the bantamweight title to Julianna Peña in what is considered one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. Nunes had won 12 straight fights when Peña dethroned her of the 135-pound crown. She had won nine straight title fights, including her featherweight destruction of Cris Cyborg to win the 145-pound belt.
Saturday at UFC 277, Nunes (21-5 MMA, 14-2 UFC) has a chance to recapture the bantamweight title in a rematch with Peña (11-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC). Instead of as much as a 12-1 favorite like at UFC 269, Nunes is just shy of 3-1 this time around – but still reasonably highly favored over the new champ.
But just how much pressure is on her to get that belt back? We asked that question of our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn and Nolan King, along with host “Gorgeous” George Garcia.
