Most fighters will likely never forget their first professional fighting victory, but it’s a guarantee for Anna Somers.
The atomweight competed in her second pro bout at Combate Global on Friday and created a highlight moment for the ages. Somers (1-1 MMA) faced off against Irlanda Galindo (1-2 MMA) in Miami, and not only picked up the first win of her career, she almost took home a limb.
With just under a minute remaining in the opening round, Somers’ triangle choke attempt turned into something much more brutal. She decided to isolate the trapped arm and go for a kimura. The submission was there, and Somers cranked. About four seconds later, her opponent’s arm snapped loudly as it bent in the wrong direction.

Naturally, the referee immediately stopped the action. Somers immediately released the hold and began embracing her opponent apologetically.
